Portrait Transformation
RAFAEL SLIKS
Rafaela Sliks first started his artwork on the streets with graffiti on walls and buildings. He started working with models, with the photos he took of the models he started labelling them with his signature he was using on the streets. That is what you can see written covering the models however he won't cover the whole of the eyes.
TIM TADDER
Tim Tadder is a commercial and advertiser photographer who mainly specialises on celebrities related to sports. These collection of images that are captured just after a water balloon has been burst are called 'water wings'.Tadder is a fearless communicator, directing NFL, NBA, and MLB athletes, creating influencer content. Personally, this is my favourite photographer.
BARBRA KRUGER
A lot of KRUGER images are a black and white portrait covered by a red and white text. The phrases in her works often include pronouns such as "you", "your", "I", "we", and "they", addressing cultural constructions of power, identity, and sexuality. Kruger lives and works in New York and Los Angeles.
USE AN ARTIST / PHOTOGRAPHER'S SURNAME, NO THEIR FIRST NAME WHEN YOU WANT TO SHORTED IT.
Rankin's destroy
Rankin's destroy images is a group of photos taken of famous artist (including mainly singers) then 'destroyed' using effects and images over it to capture their real image. He takes photos of his model then the model choses what they want done to their picture so they can capture their true self within a single photo. He is one of my favourite photographers as his art is unique and different.
MY SELF DESTROYED PORTRAIT
This is my personal Rankin's destroy image. This represents me as there is lots of things related to sports as I am a very sporty person. On my eye there are lots of words that I think describe me including; 'fitness', 'smiles', and "game'. These all represent me because I smile a lot and love (sport) games. There is water dripping from my head as I am a swimmer. WHAT WENT WELL is how I thought I captured myself well and expressed myself and even though I 'destroyed' my face, I still captured and maintained my true self. EVEN BETTER IF is if I could've destroyed myself a bit more like cutting my face up more and rearranging to make it more 'destroyed'.

CHRISTOFFER RELANDER
Christoffer Relander is a Finnish photographer especially noted for his in-camera multiple exposures. For a year Relander has been double exposing landscapes into mason jars, this to realize a childish dream. He plays with the idea of being an ambitious collector conserving his environments into a large personal collection. Most landscapes are from where he grew up, in the countryside in the south of Finland, where Relander's roots still lie. After becoming father separation anxiety to his own childhood absorbed him into this project. He shows the nature through people to make it look more effective.

NATURE |
WHAT WENT WELL the end images look very professional as the background is clear white and the landscape image comes through well but can still see the features of the model. EVEN BETTER IF if the end photo the purple could blend in more with the person.
I did this by going on photoshop and opening up two images at once (the nature and the self portrait) and then I put the nature photo on top of the portrait. After this I made the background of the portrait white and then the nature photo I enlightened to make the portrait image come through. After that I made it the colour purple to make it more interesting. Screen grabs make it far easier to describe the process.
FORCE OF NATURE
In this task I was required to capture nature forcing its way through man made environments. I took different photos in a range of areas where this has occurred.
FORCE OF ARCHITECTURE
In this task I was required to take photos of architecture and buildings and to make an affect on them as if they were towering down on us. This project has three themes; Negative Space, Line and Perspective,
Geometric Shapes
Geometric Shapes
NEGATIVE SPACEnegative space is the empty area surrounding the main object. The main object is called the positive space. The negative space doesn't attract as much attention, surrounding the positive space and giving it a buffer.
|
LINE AND PERSPECTIVEPerspective can impact the appearances of a straight line. Using different angles can create an effect on the image as it can sometimes look like the building is towering down on the photographer.
|
GEOMETRIC SHAPES
|
Geometric shapes have straight, defined edges. These shapes are most common in mad made structures. Geometric shapes are clear and are good at attracting our attention. This is why they achieve a strong impression in two-dimensional photos.
WWW is I think I captured photos that fit into the theme really well. My photos are clear in focus and look professional. EBI is if I could photoshop some of my photos to create more contrasted images and maybe make some black and white to show off the differences of the negative space and the positive space. |

3 STRANDS
STRAND 1: WATER
STRAND 1: WATER
Bill viola
Bill Viola is a contemporary video artist whose artistic expression depends upon electronic, sound, and image technology in the New Media. Most of his work focuses on the ideas behind fundamental human experiences such as birth, death and aspects of consciousness. In these photos he specialises in water and all of his ideas come through within on photo.
With these images I used Bill Viola's pictures as inspiration. The images taken in the bath I used flowers to create a more interesting, contrasting picture for the viewer. EBI the flowers could stand out more and the actual image could be darker. With the pictures in the pool, I used a go pro in order to take the photo. I like these ones more as they look more like Bill Viola's images and more dynamic. EBI they could be photoshopped so the model could be standing out and you couldn't see the background as clearly.
With this image I used photoshop in order to make the flowers stand out. How I did this was by using the magnetic tool and outline all the flowers. I then used the contrast tool and turned all the flowers lighter and brighter. Secondly I used the same magnetic tool and outlined the rim of the bath and made it darker and coloured in the background black.
STRAND 2;
These images are also inspired by Bill Viola but I took a different approach by taking photos in a pool. I prefer these pictures as they look more like Violas and have more of a 'watery' effect.
with this picture I used the tool to make the one certain colour stand out, that colour was blue. how I selected it was through the use of the magic wand tool. This then selects in a random pattern anything. Later I changed the contrast lower but the vibrance higher.
STRAND 2: BURST BALLOONS
TIM TADDER
In this stand I am going back to Tim Tadder as he is one of my favourite photographers and fit into the theme of people.
In these photos Tim Tadder uses water balloons and captures the break of it as soon as it pops onto their head making it look like a solid or a watery object. he uses photoshop in almost all of his photos and what I like most about him is he uses sometimes famous sportsmen/women in some of his photos instead of models.
With these images I used water balloons and put them on my friends head. We used a pin to pop the balloon and I put the camera on a very high shutter speed so I could capture the burst of the balloon. What went well is how I managed to make the water on her head look almost like a solid or an object on her head. Even better if I photoshopped out her hand popping the balloon or set it up so the balloon would pop by itself not by her hand. (all these images are on Lightbox)
With these photos, a lot of tools from photoshop where used. At first I cut around her with a magnetic tool and cleared everything from the background. After that I added another background which was coloured. Then using the gradient tool, I made the background go from light to dark.
STRAND 3:
DAN TOBIN SMITH
Dan Tobin Smith has been working as a photographer specialising in installation and still life photography for over a decade. Even though he photographs still life, his photos always have some sort of movement going on. Like the ones above, they are water with simply just ink in them however they look so much more to that. His work has been commissioned by clients across the fields of fashion, music, publishing and advertising — from Numéro, Wallpaper*, Acne Paper and Document Journal; to Absolut, Alexander McQueen, Nike, Louis Vuitton and Johnnie Walker.
|
|
these images are all inspired by Dan Tobin Smith. Although I put in my own ideas by making them colourful and the background a bright colour in contrast with the colour in the water. Making the background the opposite colour to the colour dye makes each of the colours stand out and seem brighter. with the image above i didn't crop the floor as i like the reflection in created with the colours of yellow and green. WWW is the quality of these photos and the sunlight reflecting of glass. EBI somehow with photoshop make the background within the bottle the same colour as the actual background eg, blue or pink.
